Danny Ford, Sales Executive at Dickerson Insurance Services, has enthusiastically accepted the position as our PAC Chair. Our previous PAC Chair, Kimberly Colby was presented with a fantastic job offer in Knoxville, Tennessee with Cigna Medicare as a broker manager. We wish her well and know she will thrive in that position.
Welcome to the VCAHU Board, Danny!

It is with great pleasure and honor that VCAHU was able to award Juli Canter of Warner Pacific, the Alan Katz award during our board installment last night. Juli is an invaluable asset to our association. We could go on forever about the ways that she has impacted our local board. Here is the official criteria for the Alan Katz award recipient:

Thank you, Juli, for your guidance and leadership! On the evening of Monday, June 18th, VCAHU had the honor of being officially installed by CAHU President, Stephanie Berger. Wine, Beer and delicious appetizers supplied by Relm in Camarillo. We are excited for the new full board and cannot wait to meet you all at our first official event on August 14th, "CASINO NIGHT"!
Wednesday morning, our 2018/2019 board met at Pickles in Newbury Park for our Strategic Planning session. What an abundance of energy - having a full board, with 3 new positions filled this year which means we are ready to serve our members. We can’t wait to share with you our renewed enthusiasm and tools to support you all! Come join us June 18th to connect and kick off the new board year at our installation at Relm in Camarillo. Bring a non-member so we can introduce them to our AHU family. You belong here!
VCAHU was represented by Korey Platt, Debbie Blander, Kellie Bernell, Jim Wisdom and Jolene Bibian at Capitol Summit this past week. Monday night kickoff included a night at Coin-Op hosted by Vanguard Council. Attendees had a blast playing old school arcades and jumbo jenga. Tuesday was jam packed with an entertaining and informative line up of speakers and content. Janet Trautwein discussing Single Payer and its many forms. Joe Getty, Co-Host of Armstrong & Getty radio show came and enlightened the crowd with insight on his views of all things from democracy to doing things that simply make you happy, you know like painting a bowl a fruit ;-). Member only town hall discussion and delegate voting for the new CAHU board was not uneventful! Ending the evening with the PAC Reception at Punch Bowl Social! Wednesday, Assembly Members Wood and Rubio came to speak with us and gave us an inside perspective on the lives of our legislators in an effort to help with our legislative meetings. Many CAHU members had meetings lined up throughout the day with legislators Tuesday and Wednesday. Our chapter met with Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin, Assemblyman Dante Acosta and Senator Henry Stern. We also had the pleasure of meeting with Senator Hannah-Beth Jackson's office on behalf of SBAHU.
A lot of effort goes into planning these conferences and it does not go unnoticed. It was obvious that everyone was having a great time by the laughter that could be heard in the evenings when the AHU family joined forces for some casual celebrations to cap off the daily events. Jolene Bibian, our current communications and media chair has decided to step in as our President Elect.
What a fun afternoon with our AHU family. We had a special guest drop by to speak with our members and Cyber Security 1.0 with Mike Ashamalla for a 1 hour C.E course. Not to mention the chili competitors really brought their chef skills. Yumm! Warner Pacific taking 1st place, United Concordia taking 2nd and a delicious 3rd place going to Word & Brown! Honorable mentions go to Humana for their great Pineapple vegan chili and desserts, Landmark had a close winning recipe as did Health Net, Oscar and LISI! The judging was tough and bellies were full. We’d also like to thank everyone who participated in the Box Wars! Together you all contributed $1,000 to help with physical therapy costs for Brandan Martin’s son Jake.
See you in April for our TPA Event! Jolene Bibian , Korey Platt and Legislative Chair Debbie Cain Blander just returned from their trip to Washington D.C. Debbie will be providing a Legislation update on March 15th at the Chili Cook Off!
The NAHU Capitol Conference truly paints a picture of the value members gain by joining the NAHU family. From networking with other experienced agents, being surrounded by inspiration, to the support and impact we have in Washington with legislation. |
